Many of us also spend far too much time behind a computer screen or attached to a mobile telephone! One of the issues with this lifestyle is the lack of fresh air and sunlight – so our advice is to get yourself out in the open air!
It is said that getting two and a half hours of moderate exercise each week, such as a bike ride or brisk walking, actually lowers blood pressure and risks of diabetes, helps with weight and prevention of cardio vascular disease. So what are you waiting for? Apparently the great outdoors also leads to an increase in positive mood and a reduction in the levels of cortisol (a hormone released when we are stressed) and if that isn’t enough to convince you to take time out – research has shown that a twenty-minute walk in the park can increase levels of concentration!
A number of our clients love to take a regular afternoon or day off and play golf, go off on a motorbike or just go walking – it’s their escape from all the work hassles, it recharges their batteries. Taking a few complete uninterrupted hours a week for you can make you far more productive for the rest of the week, and let’s face it, there has to be some enjoyment time – otherwise, what’s the point?!
So why not set yourself a goal? Diarise some time for yourself every week, keep it as a firm appointment and go and have some fun. If you should be concerned about missing calls whilst you are away from your business, we are happy to take the calls, even if it is just for a couple of hours every Friday afternoon.
Well, I think that’s enough from me – I need to leave it there and head off for a walk in the park! If we can help you to take time out – give us a call on 01902 585222
