Love the old boiler!
It seemed appropriate to have someone that loves old boilers for our February PinkyPal, in fairness Simon also loves new boilers too! Many people don’t think about their boilers until they break down, then only to be left with no hot water and heating for days or even weeks on end, annual servicing ensures potential problems are spotted before they become an issue.
Simon from ACS Plumbing and Heating Limited recently took over the client base from another gas engineer client of ours Tettenhall Gas Services and services gas fires, boilers, LPG, pipework and the list goes on!
We asked Simon for his top tips for looking after your boiler
- Get an annual boiler service
- Check the boiler pressure regularly
- Bleed your radiators
- Turn your heating on regularly
- Protect the condensate pipe from freezing, especially as we come into the colder weather
- Leave it to the professionals!!
Another tip Simon gave me is to ensure that the stopcock is working, checking it and giving it a spray of WD40 will mean that when the time comes and you really need it – at least it works.
